The first fully endowed sport-specific scholarship
in UCR history, the Dr. Raymond Richardson Scholarship is presented
annually to a men's golfer, providing the individual an opportunity
to play collegiate golf and attain an outstanding education.
Dr. Richardson was a long-time Riverside
vascular surgeon who passed away from liver cancer on June 29,
2000. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed the competition and the
camaraderie that the game provided. He was a member at nearby
Victoria Club and had traveled the world to play the game he loved,
including a 14-day trip to Ireland in 1999 to play some of the
world's greatest courses.
